And Did We Ever Celebrate!

It was billed as Call of the Sea’s Annual Benefit for Youth Sailing, to celebrate summer sailing and support programs for the schools and youth groups from around the Bay Area.

At the Bay Model the day was warm and breezy. The Pine Needles set the tone with awesome rockabilly and bluegrass music. The food was great, made greater by the oysters served up by Johanna and Bill. Wide-eyed kids watched Jade the Magician, then climbed aboard Schooner Seaward to try their hand at seamanship skills.

It was a chance for the growing community of Call of the Sea supporters to meet one another, and also to meet some of the teachers and students who are the reason for what we do.

As a fundraiser the day was a great success. The spirited Sponsor a Sail live auction raised over $5,000. Folks got terrific deals on auction items while supporting Call of the Sea’s scholarship fund. Bidding was lively, and when one special schooner sail wasn’t enough to satisfy the bidders, we made it two!

A huge THANKS! to the crew and volunteers who made it all happen, and also to a great group of sponsors:
