The Great San Francisco Schooner Race
The weather was perfect: clear and breezy, as 16 schooners spread their wings off Tiburon and tuned up for the race. The approximately 13-mile course started off the west side of Angel Island, sailed to SF city front, across to Richmond and finished in Raccoon Straights off Tiburon.
Schooners Seaward and Kaiulani sailed for Call of the Sea, carrying 15 teen-aged Voyage Seaward graduates as part of the crew along with 22 sponsors. Chris and Holiday Johnson graciously offered Kaiulani to host sponsors and students when more space was needed.

SEAWARD UNDER FULL SAIL
For Call of the Sea, this was another great day to be on the Bay, and a successful fundraiser as well. In fact, the scholarship funds raised were put to use the very next week!
The schooner race will be an annual event offering Call of The Sea a high profile opportunity to demonstrate what we do, give students a race experience and welcome donors to join us in raising scholarship funds.
